Description
The Harpoon F17 is a tactical flipper from Andre De Villiers that might be his most refined design thus far. It has elements of the Butcher design that came before it but the addition of the second finger groove and thumb ramp in the blade make for the stellar ergonomics, much like his Hummer model. It’s smooth, fast, sharp and stout – really everything one could want in a tactical blade, and can easily flex into EDC, hunting or survival tasks. The Harpoon F17 has a 3.8″ harpoon spear point blade made from N690 stainless steel with a braun stonewashed finish. The handle is made from black stonewashed titanium with perfectly executed jimping on the thumb ramp and backspacer for excellent purchase.
The titanium lock has an integral lockbar insert/over-travel mechanism that provides solid lockup while being very easy to disengage. The action, riding on a caged bearing pivot, is very smooth, to say the least. Jimping on the redesigned flipper tang and thumb ramp are sharp and functional, nothing was overlooked for this awesome design. The right-hand reversible milled titanium pocket clip of the Harpoon has been redesigned to allow for better retention in thick pant pockets and incorporates a rolling ball design for an easier draw. This may not be your typical looking knife, but get it in your hand and you’ll definitely warm up to the design thanks to all the great features it has and the fact that the action is on par with even the best flipping designs in the industry.
