Closing Knife Chaves Knives Ultramar Sangre 229/SW/BG10/BF
The Chaves Ultramar knives by Ramon Chavez are manufactured by Reate Knives, which aims to bring their amazing knives to a wider audience base. There are a number of different models including the production Street version of his famous Redencion knife, which is iconic in the knife world. Each has its signature titanium skull pocket clip, replaceable lock insert, and Bohler M390 satin blade on the belt. They are perfect for everyday wear and Reate has perfectly recreated Ramon’s incredible action so they spin like the real thing!
The Sangre 229 is a completely different animal than the Ramon Chavez, with utilitarian functionality at the forefront of its design. If you are looking for something from Ramon, but not his Redencion or his similar brother Liberation, Sangre is the model for you. It combines a Wharncliffe blade with a slim, beveled titanium handle reminiscent of Ramon’s famous 228 design. It’s wildly comfortable, even with its boxy edges, and you get an extremely firm grip on this sturdy folder. The frame lock is equipped with a replaceable lockbar insert/override damper and the knife is completed with a partial titanium backspacer. If Ramon Chavez has been on your wish list for a while but remains out of your price range, then check out the Chaves Ultramar. For the money, there isn’t a better mid-range production knife we can think of.
