Jim was the first cutter to work with CRKT® in 1994, but before that he had over 17 years of experience under the blade-adorned belt. After graduating from Clemson in 1977, he quickly rose through the ranks, specializing in military and collectible tactical fighters like our FE™ series. A member of the Knife Makers Guild since 1978, his designs – and golf swings – are all about perfection, taste and function.

Closing Knife CRKT Orca 7930
They call it killer whales for a reason.
Inspired by his favorite animal, Jim Hammond designed the Orca to be powerful, stealthy and fast – resulting in a small and unassuming folding knife that packs a surprising punch. The drop point blade opens instantly with assisted opening and the D2 blade steel provides excellent blade hold.
Its compact size fits into the smallest of pockets and is stylishly reminiscent of a marine mammal with smooth curves and details that look like the dorsal and pectoral fins of an Orcinus Orca.
How assisted opening works
It’s held securely closed in the pocket, but initiate deployment and the blade opens with impressive speed for easy, powerful one-handed opening in the swing section.
