The Cold Steel Kyoto II Mini Japanese Reinforced Point is a compact, modern take on the classic Japanese Tanto design. The stout blade has a high flat grind, straight spine and classic piercing Tanto point. The Kray-Ex rubber handle is molded in the style of tsukamaki, Japanese cord wrapping over ray skin. Stylish and functional this modern Tanto has an 8Cr13MoV stainless steel blade and brushed stainless guard.
Brand new, direct from Cold Steel.
Blade: Made from satin finished 8Cr13MoV stainless steel the blade is delivered with a flat ground, Japanese-style Tanto point for solid durability in piercing and excellent slicing ability and balanced strength. The sweeping edge of the blade is ideal for slicing cuts and makes this a highly versatile design.
Handle: A hidden tang construction balances strength with comfort and is wrapped with a high traction Kray-Ex rubber handle molded in the style of traditional Japanese blades. This design tapers toward the pommel end and provides a solid, secure grip in adverse conditions. A brushed stainless steel guard lends to the iconic style and prevents slipping onto the blade when piercing. The handle is comfortable in a variety of grips and balanced for speed and control in the hand. A hollow tube allows for lanyard attachment.
Sheath: Carries via a molded polymer sheath.
8Cr13MoV: Similar to Japanese AUS-8, 8Cr13MoV is a low carbon, high chromium stainless steel with an excellent balance of toughness and strength. It offers good corrosion resistance and is capable of acquiring a razor sharp edge. Edge holding is significantly lower than S30V but close to 440B. Sharpening should be a breeze.
