About the knife designer

Kit Carson of Vine Grove, Kentucky is a retired professional soldier who rose to the rank of sergeant major. He has been making knives for 30 years and has been a full-time knife maker since 1993. He is a voting member of the Knife Guild. An avid hunter and fisherman for over 40 years, Kit grew up in the woods and trout streams of the North Georgia mountains. He says of his knife design philosophy: “I try to follow form and function in the knives I design and make. My reputation has been built on solid working knives, both solid bladed and folding. All that time spent outdoors as a young man and time spent around the world with the military has heavily influenced the knives I create.” Nothing reflects this approach more than the Carson design of our M16 series, which is built for function, not to follow fashion trends. This highly successful series of knives was named one of the top 10 factory tactical components of the decade by Blade magazine. The M16-14M recently won a comparison test by the German magazine Messer.
