Motorcycle journalist. Viking sword pattern welder. Inventor. Custom knife designer. It’s safe to say that Joe is cut from special cloth. And now he can add “industry disruptor” to his resume. With the release of the Kinematic, it continues to secure its position among the world’s greatest knives. From humble beginnings in his homemade forge in the garage of his rented apartment, he has built a name for himself one hard working late night, and we can’t wait to see what comes of his inspired creativity next.

Description

Columbia River CRKT Kinematic Provoke Karambit 4050 Folding Knife

Serve. Defend. The Provoke EDC knife draws on ancient karambit design, but hides a futuristic secret. The first ever knife with Kinematic technology, it stays neatly tucked away when in transit and comes to life when trouble strikes.

CRKT thinks designer Joe Caswell is somewhat of a mad scientist. When they saw the sketches of what would become the Provoke EDC—designed in Newbury Park, California—they knew he was destined to become one of the most innovative designers the knife world had ever seen. Modeled after a traditional karambit, the D2 drop point blade is forged from premium D2 steel for high durability and excellent edge retention.

The opening mechanism pulls the folder into the future, ready or not. Thumb pressure on the top bar sets off a chain reaction, causing the blade to spring into action while you keep a firm grip on the handle. It is made of 6061 aircraft aluminum for maximum rigidity. In true Joe style, the pocket clip is also a world first – it sits almost completely flush with the handle and also activates with a light push of the thumb.

Provoke EDC is powerful when called into service.

How kinematics work
Push your thumb into the upper crossbar – while your other fingers grip the handle firmly – and the blade springs to life and clicks into place. Slide the discreet lever at the base of the finger loop and the blade retracts to its closed position.
